Chiefly consists of information regarding McLean's library bookbinding interests and also his work as a ballet dancer and teacher. The collection contains printed material, scrapbooks, and clippings. Included are rubbings of bookbindings; (bound and unbound); photographs and notes pertaining to bookbinding. The scrapbooks include clippings, photographs, and programs, 1920-1945, that document both McLean's and his sister Mary's, careers as ballet performers.

Edward McLean was born in Victor, Colorado, in 1905 and spent many years in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He had three careers - that of a dancer, a master bookbinder, and a publisher. His publishing company, Libros Escogidos, published three books: Fifteen New Mexico Santos (1941); Vicente Silva and his 40 Bandits (1947); and Three Letters from St. Louis (1958).
